Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat, formed as a result of transformations between several prehistoric lakes. Covering over 10,000 square kilometers near the crest of the Andes, it maintains an extraordinarily flat surface elevation variation of less than one meter over its entire footprint.
During the rainy season (December to April), a thin layer of calm water transforms the salt plain into the world's largest natural mirror, reflecting skies, clouds, and stars in breathtaking 360-degree symmetry.
